Six tools that cover what people actually need to do to a picture before publishing it: change its dimensions, cut it to a shape, make the file lighter, change its type, sign it, or make it bigger. Each runs in a browser on desktop or mobile with nothing to install, and every one is free with no account and no watermark added to your result.
The figures quoted below are measured rather than estimated — we ran the same 3000 × 2000 camera photograph and a small flat graphic through each tool and recorded what came back, because the honest answer to “which setting should I use” usually depends on numbers nobody publishes.
Which image tool do you need?
Most confusion here comes from three jobs that sound alike. Resizing changes how many pixels there are. Cropping changes which part of the picture you keep. Compressing changes how many bytes describe the pixels, and leaves both the framing and the dimensions alone.

What each tool does, with the numbers
Resize
Four ways of asking for a size — exact pixels, a percentage, a bounding box, or a forced width and height — plus ten platform presets covering Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest and TikTok. Output is capped at 8000 pixels per side. Reach for the image resizer when the framing is already right and only the dimensions are wrong.
Crop
Drag a box or type exact coordinates, with fourteen aspect presets, rotation, flipping and a straighten slider for a horizon that leans. How much survives depends entirely on the shape: on a 3000 × 2000 photo a 4:3 crop keeps 89% of the frame, a square keeps 67%, and a 9:16 story crop keeps just 38%. The crop tool sets a region, so pair it with the resizer when a platform wants exact pixels too.
Compress
Four levels, or a quality slider, or a file-size ceiling you name in kilobytes. Our 3.6 MB test photograph came back 21% lighter on Low, 65% on Medium, 81% on High and 89% on Maximum — and 93% lighter as AVIF at the same setting. Ask the image compressor for a 100 KB ceiling and it encodes repeatedly to find the highest quality that fits underneath.
Convert
This is where the biggest savings usually hide, because the best format is decided by the kind of picture you have, and the two kinds want opposite things:

JPEG is the best choice in one column and the worst in the other by a factor of nine, and PNG makes a photograph larger than it started. Send photographs to JPEG, WebP or AVIF, and send screenshots, logos and line art to PNG. The image converter carries transparency into any format able to hold it, and offers a lossless mode for artwork that must stay exact.
Watermark
A text layer and a logo layer that coexist on the image, each carrying its own placement, scale, transparency and tilt, plus a tiling mode for proofs. Between 50% and 70% opacity is readable without spoiling most photographs. The watermark tool composites at full resolution, so what you place on the preview lands on the full-size file.
Upscale
Enlargement by 2× or 4× using Lanczos resampling, which holds edges together far better than the scaling browsers and office software fall back on. Worth being clear about the limit: at 2× three-quarters of the resulting pixels are computed rather than recorded, and at 4× it is fifteen-sixteenths. The image upscaler produces a larger, cleaner rendering of what the file already holds — it cannot recover detail the camera never captured.
Where your images are processed
Worth stating precisely, because it differs by tool. Resize, crop, compress, convert and upscale send the image to Pixpoo’s server, where it is held in memory for the length of the job and returned immediately — never written to disk, never stored, never shared. The watermark tool is different: for PNG, JPEG and WebP output it composites inside your own browser and the picture never leaves your device at all.
Camera and location data is removed by default across the toolkit, so a photograph you publish does not carry the GPS coordinates of where it was taken. Our PDF toolkit works differently again — those tools run entirely in the browser and upload nothing.
Putting the tools together
Order matters more than people expect, because each step changes what the next one has to work with.
- Photo for a web page: crop to the shape, resize to the slot width, then compress. Cropping last would throw away pixels you just paid to keep.
- Product shot for a store: crop square, resize to the platform size, watermark, then compress — the mark should be applied before the file is squeezed.
- Photo that must hit a byte limit: resize first, then set the ceiling. A tight limit on a large picture is usually a pixel-count problem rather than a quality one.
- Old or small picture: upscale, then compress. Enlargement adds pixels without adding detail, which is exactly where compression costs least.

Are Pixpoo’s image tools really free?
Yes. Every image tool is free to use with no account, no usage cap on the free tier and no watermark added to your result. There is a rate limit in place to stop automated abuse, which normal use will not reach.
What is the difference between resizing, cropping and compressing?
Resizing changes how many pixels the image is made of. Cropping keeps part of the frame and discards the rest at the original scale. Compressing keeps every pixel and simply spends fewer bytes describing them, so the picture comes back the same size and shape but lighter.
Which image formats can I use?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and TIFF all work as input and output. HEIC, the format recent iPhones shoot by default, cannot be read — set the camera to Most Compatible or convert to JPEG first. Uploads are capped at 25 MB per image.
How do I hit an exact file size limit?
Give the compressor the ceiling instead of guessing at quality settings. It encodes repeatedly and returns the highest quality that still fits underneath. If even the lowest quality is too large, the picture has too many pixels for that budget — resize it smaller and try again.
Will my photos lose quality?
Scaling down and cropping are safe directions, because you are discarding pixels rather than inventing them. Compressing costs a little at each pass, so work from the original rather than re-compressing a result. For artwork that must stay exact, the converter and compressor both offer a lossless mode for WebP, PNG and AVIF.
Do my images get uploaded, and are they stored?
Five of the six tools process on Pixpoo’s server, holding the file in memory for the length of the job and returning it immediately — nothing is written to disk or kept. The watermark tool does its work inside your browser for PNG, JPEG and WebP output, so those files never leave your device.
Is camera and location data removed?
Yes, by default. The make and model of the camera, the moment it was taken and any coordinates all come off the file you download. The resize and convert tools let you keep that data deliberately, and setting a DPI figure also retains it, because the two cannot be separated.
Do these tools work on a phone?
Yes. Everything runs in a mobile browser on Android and iOS with nothing to install, and you can work straight from your camera roll. Larger images take a little longer on a phone than on a desktop, but nothing else differs.
